PANTANAL PHOTO TOUR

OVERVIEW

  • This Tour takes you to the Meeting of the Waters State Park in Porto Jofre in search for Jaguars, Giant River Otters and other wildlife by speed boat.
     

  • In addition we stay in Barranco Alto or Aguapé   Pantanal Lodge (Mato Grosso do Sul) where we have good chances of close encounters with highlights including Ocelots, Tapirs, Hyacinth Macaws, Jabiru Storks, Anteaters, Giant Otters & Pumas to mention but a few.
     

  • Boat safaris, overland safaris, walking safaris in forests and night safaris in search for dry land mammals & birds.

Day 1.
Cuiabá airport to Pantanal Lodge, Northern Pantanal.

Arrival at Cuiabá airport in the morning, where you will meet your guide and transfer to the Pantanal. After driving about one and a half hour we arrive in Poconé. From where our wildlife adventure starts as we hit the Transpantaneira road, a dirt road that transects the Northern Pantanal. We stop to photograph all kind of wildlife. We will arrive at our lodge just before lunch time. After our midday break we go on a forest walk in search for dry land mammals and birds. At night we go on a night safari in search for night animals like Ocelot, Puma, Giant Anteaters, Tamandua, Crab-eating Raccoon, Potoos and Owls. Dinner and Overnight. (L,D)

Day 2.
Pantanal Lodge, Northern Pantanal.
Early wildlife search at sunrise, looking for the first signs of morning activity of the animals, and then breakfast. This morning we will explore one of many opportunities along the trails and farm roads, with plenty of wildlife as coatis, caimans, storks, herons an other marsh birds. Lunch and break. In the a􀆜ernoon we go for a walk inside forest islands where the fauna congregates at dusk. Dinner and overnight. (B,L,D)

Day 3.
Pantanal Lodge to Porto Jofre, Northern Pantanal.
Early breakfast and checkout. This morning we drive further into the Pantanal. There is plenty of wildlife along the road, as we  cover the entire Transpantaneira to reach Porto Jofre and check-in at our lodge situated on the riverbank of the mighty Cuiabá river. Lunch and break. In  the afternoon we go on our first boat safari in search for Jaguars and other wildlife concentrated along the riverbanks. Dinner and overnight. (B,L,D)

Days 4,5.
In search for Jaguars and other wildlife in the Meeting of
the Waters State Park.

We will have two (or three) full days devoted to the boat safari on Cuiabá River and its tributaries, in order to maximize our chances of watching and photographing Jaguars, Giant River Otters and other wildlife in the Meeting of the Waters State Park. Our outings are always during the day, from sunrise to lunch time and after our midday break we go out again until sunet. Dinner and Overnight. (B,L,D)

Day 6.
From Porto Jofre in the Northern Pantanal to lodge in the Southern Pantanal.

After breakfast, check out and transfer by bush plane from your hotel in forto Jofre to Fazenda Barranco Alto, a family owned and operated working Pantanal ranch, focused on eco-tourism and wildlife. 

OR

Overland transfer back to Cuiabá and overnight in Cuiabá.

Day 7.

Cuiabá - Campo Grande

Domestic flight to Campo Grande. Transfer to Pantanal ranch. Activities are forest walks and overland safaris in jeep. (B,L,D)

Days 8
Traditional Pantanal ranch

At the Pantanal ranch we have morning and afternoon activities including: Horse back riding, bird wacthing, jeep safaris, night safaris, forest walks, boat safari, fishing and canoeing. Astronomy: hundreds of kilometers away from any bigger city, you will find an amazing detailed sky. See the milkyway in a brightness you haven't seen before.  (B,L,D)

Day 9.Pantanal ranch, departure.

Pantanal ranch, departure.

After early morning activity, breakfast, check-out and transfer back by charter flight or overland transfer to Campo Grande Airport (CGR) in the morning. A guide will transfer the customers who leave to the terminal for onward flight to SP, and those who go to the extension tour by van to Bonito, with lunch stop at Rio da Prata farm. At afernoon, visit the Araras Hole, then check-in at the hotel (Hotel Cabanas recommended ). (B,L,D)

Day 11. 

Bonito.
Early breakfast, leave hotel at 6:30h. Full day at the Araras Hole. Lunch at Rio da Prata farm. (B,L,D)


Day 12. 

Bonito.
Morning birding and photographing at Hotel Cabanas trails. Free afternoon . (B,L,D)


Day 13. 

Return to Campo Grande.
Breakfast, check-out and departure at 09:00h to the airport of Campo Grande. (B)
