Poconé & Transpantaneira
A small town, at 100km from Cuiabá Airport
From here starts the Transpantaneira road, a 145km-long artificially raised dirt road that penetrates the heart of the Pantanal.
Porto Jofre is located at the end of this legendary road, on the river banks of the Cuiabá River. This riverside location is our land base in this vast labirinth of rivers.
The Meeting of the Waters State Park is located about 15Km upstream on the Cuiabá river, this huge Reserve is regarded as the best place to watch and photograph Jaguars in South America.
The Meeting of the Waters State Park has the world’s highest density of Jaguars due to lack of hunting, and a very high density of their favourite preys: caymans and capybaras. This region is a ''must” for wildlife photographers and birdwatchers as it features over 500 hundred bird species including the cobalt-blue Hyancinth Macaw, Red-and-Green Macaw, Roseate Sponbill, Toco Toucan, Agamy Heron and many others.
