THE JAGUAR KINGDOM, BIRDS & MAMMALS
OF PANTANAL AND SAVANNA
Day 1.
Cuiabá to Pouso Alegre Lodge
Traditional Pantanal ranch.
Arrival at Cuiabá Airport in the morning, where you will be met by your guide and transferred to the Pantanal. After approximately one and a half hours’ drive, we reach Poconé, where our wildlife adventure begins as we follow the Transpantaneira, the dirt road that crosses the Northern Pantanal.
Arrival at the lodge just before lunch, followed by a short midday break. In the afternoon, we set out on a forest walk in search of terrestrial mammals and birdlife.
As night falls, we embark on a night safari to spot nocturnal species such as Ocelot, Puma, Giant Anteaters, Tamandua, Crab-eating Raccoon, Potoos, and Owls.

Day 2.
Pouso Alegre Lodge.
A full morning is dedicated to exploring the excellent photographic opportunities offered by this remarkable ranch, widely regarded as one of the best locations in the Northern Pantanal to observe Giant Anteaters. Close encounters are also possible with species such as Red Brocket and Marsh Deer, Coati, Tayra and Brazilian Tapir.
Activities combine overland safaris and guided forest walks, allowing us to explore different habitats across the property.
After dinner, we head out on a night safari in search of mammals and other nocturnal wildlife, with potential sightings including Great Horned Owl, Nightjar, Potoo and many other species.

Day 3.
Pouso Alegre Lodge to Porto Jofre.
Early breakfast and check-out. We then continue deeper into the Pantanal, where wildlife is often abundant along the roadside as we travel the full length of the Transpantaneira to reach Porto Jofre.
Check-in at our lodge, beautifully situated on the banks of the mighty Cuiabá River. Lunch and a short rest.
In the afternoon, we set out on our first boat safari in search of Jaguars and other wildlife concentrated along the riverbanks.

Days 4 & 5.
In search for Jaguars and other wildlife within the Meeting of the Waters State Park.
Two full days are devoted to boat safaris along the Cuiabá River and its tributaries, maximising opportunities to observe and photograph Jaguars, Giant River Otters and other wildlife within the Meeting of the Waters State Park.
Outings take place during daylight hours, from sunrise until lunchtime and again after a short midday break, continuing until sunset.

Day 6.
Porto Jofre and back north to the Piuval Lodge, Pantanal ranch.
After breakfast, we set out on an overland safari towards Piuval Lodge, with good chances of wildlife sightings along the way. Arrival is around lunchtime.
Following a short midday rest, we head out for a forest walk through the “monkey forest” and climb the 25-metre canopy tower for elevated views over the surrounding landscape.

Day 7.
Piuval Lodge, Pantanal ranch.
A full day is devoted to exploring the abundant wildlife of this 10,000-hectare ranch. Activities combine overland safaris, guided walks and night safaris, allowing us to experience the area’s rich diversity from different perspectives.
Day 8.
Piuval Lodge and drive up to the northern tablelands of Chapada dos Guimarães.
Early breakfast and check-out. We then drive approximately three hours on good roads to the charming town of Chapada dos Guimarães. Arrival in time for lunch.
In the afternoon, we explore the Jamacá Valley on a forest walk in search of woodland highlights such as Blue-crowned Motmot, Red-necked Woodpecker, Channel-billed Toucan and Band-tailed Manakin.
We later visit the Geodesic Lookout, which offers sweeping views across the landscape and opportunities to observe species such as Maned Wolf, Red-and-Green Macaw and King Vulture.

Day 9.
Chapada dos Guimarães National Park.
Early morning birding before breakfast.
After breakfast, we enter the National Park and visit Bride’s Veil falls, where there are opportunities to observe and photograph Red-and-Green Macaws, which nest on the canyon rock faces.
Lunch in the town of Chapada dos Guimarães. In the afternoon, we continue to Cidade de Pedra, the “Stone City”, known for its striking rock formations and expansive views. In addition to the scenery, there may be further chances to observe Red-and-Green Macaws, King Vultures and other species. (B, L, D)
Day 10.
Chapada dos Guimarães and Nobres.
After breakfast, we check out and drive to Bom Jardim, in the district of Nobres, arriving around lunchtime.
In the afternoon, we go snorkelling downstream along the Salobra River, drifting through clear waters among hundreds of freshwater fish and stingrays.
In the early evening, we visit Macaw Lake to observe and photograph Blue-and-Yellow Macaws, Red-bellied Macaws and many other birds as they gather at their communal roosts for the night.( B, L, D)
Day 11.
Transfer back to Cuiabá.
After breakfast, check-out and transfer to Cuiabá Airport for your onward flight.
